Hi, I’m Dympna!
I’m a physician, master coach, writer, and speaker. (I wear a lot of hats, and I’m sure you do, too!)
Prescribing Possibility to the Folks Who Need It Most
I help stressed-out and overwhelmed healthcare professionals feel better from the inside out. If you’re feeling disconnected, resentful, and overwhelmed, it’s time for a change. It’s time for your healing journey to begin.
I genuinely believe that the system designed to help people doesn’t do enough (or anything) to help those doing the healing. As healthcare professionals, you learn to push, achieve, diagnose, and solve problems but not to take care of yourself.
As a result, you might feel disconnected and unfulfilled and have no clue why. You can’t take a prescription or pill to solve this problem. You need more. You need to learn how to care for yourself. That means changing the way you live your life as a health practitioner. That might sound scary or impossible. Where will you find the time? How does it work? You can start here.
My Story
In the Fall of 2020, six months into the pandemic, I started experiencing a constellation of symptoms that forced me to reconsider everything I knew about my life as a doctor. After spending a lifetime on the go, I had to be still. My body was revolting against me, and I could no longer operate the way I did before. The role reversal turned my life upside down. It took over nine months to receive a diagnosis of vestibular migraine and PPPD (Persistent Postural-Perceptual Dizziness).
(The nine-month timing was especially ironic, considering I’m an OBGYN.)
What felt like the worst thing in the world became a turning point for me. When I became physically unable to care for others, I learned to care for myself. During my self-care practice, I got certified as a life coach, so I’d never return to my old way of being. Along the way, I noticed how my thoughts and actions led to my unhappiness. I uncovered a passion for helping health professionals stuck in the old way with no way of figuring out how to feel better.
Outside of my work, my happy place is near the water…especially with my family.I love a good book, arts & crafts night and always enjoy planning a good party.
I have a lot of credentials (you’ll see them below), but my favorite is the Irish dance teacher certification I got from Dublin.
